As with any endeavour, preparation is the first key step to success. You should brush up frequently asked interview questions like your introduction, hobbies, interests, strengths etc. Practice before interview and ready to face such questions.
Homework is very important. Do some research about the company you are going to give an interview at. Know about company history, what it has to offer, vision, and mission etc.
Try to reach interview location ahead of schedule to avoid any unexpected traffic jams etc.,
First impression is the key and the way you dress up might give an edge over others. A nicely dressed person always tends to leave a good impression than a person who comes shabbily for the interview.
Be confident and don't let your nervousness come up on your face. Confidence is another key factor in convincing the interviewer that you can do the job well.
Flexibility and sincerity are very important when answering questions. Don't try to give wrong answers and convince interviewer. It's best to say that you don't know the answer than giving false information.
Always keep your CV updated and any bullet points that will highlight your most important skills, strengths etc., that are more appropriate for the job interview.
Also don't be shy with interviewer and be friendly. Be prepared with some questions to ask interviewer.
